Communication is the most important part of any relationship.

  • Parent / Child
  • Employee / Manager
  • Friend / Friend

Doesn’t matter… communication is at the heart of how powerful that relationship will be.

Many aim for brevity in communication. Some for grammatical correctness. Others always try telling a story.

All of these are tools. The goal is uncontested and singular.

Always aim for Clarity

Yes, you should never use 10 words when 5 will do. But, if you need 10 to be clear, never choose 5.

Yes, you should strive for grammatical correctness. But, if timing is more important for clarity and you don’t have time to double check, you should send it… grammatical errors and all.

Yes, storytelling is arguably the most impactful way to communicate clearly. But, if a list is more clear than a story… write the list.

Clarity should always win. No exceptions.
