What's more special... when something lasts w/o founder energy or when it doesn't?

I was a member of DadFury for 3 years.

It was truly amazing. The girls loved it, we had many folks come up to us inspired, and it even took off in a smaller way at other gyms across the country!

However, Westside burned down, and that Westside energy proved to be incompatible with any other gym it tried to merge with.

We had a good season with GU, but it was just that one season. Then they tried it at Deveaux’s, and it lasted one season.

Now the members of DadFury are spread across multiple gyms. The nucleus (meaning those that actively contributed to keeping it together) wasn’t there at a single place leaning on each other (and let me tell you, no one WANTS to do this for themselves… we all did it because of our children and we had others to support us).

It is without a doubt that DadFury was special. Folks came up to us and got their picture taken every year. We heard folks from out of the country say they were looking forward to meeting us when we went to Summit (the cheerleading super bowl in Florida every year).

So… is it a sign of just how special it was in that it didn’t last because it needed so much nucleus energy that the inertia wasn’t enough to sustain it? Or would it have been a better sign if it had sustained the tremendous amount of bad fortune the athletes took (losing their gym was devastating) and if it had caught on at the gyms that got a glimpse of the energy?

I’m not sure, but I do know it was special!
