i struggle to digitally garden

ironic to write this when i’m trying to digitally garden, but this is something i am trying to learn. notes feel like they could just be a dreamwidth post, or a tumblr post, or something i jot into my journal. not things that are inherently impossible to find again, but i am scattered:

  • tumblr: immediate thoughts, microposts of 1-2 sentences or some random picture/screenshot
  • dreamwidth: still immediate thoughts, but a little more thorough and not stuff i talk about on tumblr
  • bearblog: long-form writing and more articulated
  • journal: thought dumps i don’t want to make public, even if it’s just ‘well shit happened’ (thoughts.page kinda goes under here too)
  • obsidian: wiki + daily notes when i can bother to make them
  • website: personal interests, a hub in itself kinda
  • toyhouse: oc information, i’m making an oc wiki to supplement it if toyhouse ever explodes

i have been trying to consolidate myself into some certain places, or at least pluck parts out from other places and bring them into one ‘hub’, but the issue is that i’m very split across multiple places, each with their own purpose … and so a digital garden hasn’t quite found that place yet in my mind as to what role it fulfills.

do i migrate thoughts in my journal to here? do i duplicate a dreamwidth post here, or a bearblog post? i know it’s very much ‘it’s unique for everyone’ but i like having a system to work within in, and a box, and right now i haven’t sorted that out yet.

to be fair i was also scared to do it when i began thought dumping in my journal, and now it comes second-nature to write inside there if i have a thought i don’t wanna post online, or to scribble in a sudoku puzzle.

maybe in due time when i don’t feel like a scared chihuahua it might be a consolidation of loose thoughts from other places into here, and tying thoughts together under certain themes, cause i know i’ve talked about self exploration, journaling, my process of understanding systems and organizing, and trying to understand myself and ADHD (i cannot get diagnosed, but i do have a lot of traits that are common with it).

i also just tend to overthink systems. do i have an index page of topics? do i put multiple sub-topics under something more general? do i use ‘tag’ pages like how i do in my obsidian? so it is to be seen.
